Quality doesn't match the price
With a groupon, I ended up spending an extra chunk of change to get this expensive thing. I've used Chi, Croc, and even a cheap Revlon one (just to get me by in between one breaking and purchasing a replacement.) With the decent reviews this had, I took the risk. Is it better than a Chi? That depends. Are you using an old Chi straightener then no. If you're using the new, crummy ones that are made in China after they got popular, then it's about the same. My Croc one I got on Amazon was cheaper, and far better. This is the quality of the cheapo Revlon one I bought. The plates tilt which they advertise as a plus. What really happens is my hair gets stuck in this, and it breaks and pulls individual strands when I use it. It takes a lot of passes for it to straighten my hair as well. Far more than any other one I've used. I have fairly fine hair but a lot of it. So I don't know how anyone with coarse hair could use this. It feels like light, cheap plastic because it is. There's an ongoing humming sound coming from it whenever it's on. They can talk about ions all they want, but it did not make my hair any smoother. I've used this for 3 days and am going to return it. I'd put up with it for longer, but I'm too afraid it will detroy my long hair by ripping so much of it out. If you want a straightener, then please save yourself the trouble and keep looking.

Best Straightner ever
Best hair straightner I've ever used! And I have very coarse and thick hair. I straightned it yesterday and went outside throughout the day, and it even drizzled a little and my hair did NOT frizz up like usual! LOVE IT! And it makes perfect curls.

NOT AT ALL WHAT I EXPECTED!
I bought this flat iron after reading that it was supposed to be superior to many others on the market. It was offered to me in an e-mail ad for a very reasonable price and it seemed too good be true...and so it was! I was used to using a Chi flat iron and had been satisfied with it but the one I had was old and needed to be replaced so I decided to try something new. Well, I ended up sending this one back. First of all, the thermostat dial and on/of switch are on the inside of the iron, a couple inches from the very hot plates, and very difficult to see. I figured out how to turn it on and off and I could see the dial which regulated the temperature, but I never did figure out how I was supposed to regulate it. The inside of the iron is black and any writing would be extremely hard to see. I ended up just turning it to the middle of its capacity and hoped that it was hot enough to do the job but not so hot it would scorch my hair off! It took longer to heat up than the Chi and then my hair never did slide smoothly through it. Every time I used it, I had static electricity that I had to get rid of before I could continue styling my hair. I gave this iron a week so I could figure out exactly how to use it and to see if maybe I could regulate the settings to make it work better but I never succeeded. I went out and bought another Chi and will just stick with that. I don't recommend this flat iron...even at the reasonable price I got it for, I just couldn't justify keeping it.

NUME does not back up it's products!
I love NUME curling wands. I have the Curl Jam set, the reverse wand and the pearl wand. I always get compliments when I use them. Sadly, I can no longer recommend Nume to anyone. I bought my curl jam set in October. Tuesday when I was using it I noticed it was cooling down. I thought maybe something was wrong with the outlet and plugged my flat iron in to test it. Not my outlet. I contacted NUME yesterday for a replacement. After all, my wand is only three months old and I don't use it more than twice a week. It's practically brand new! I didn't drop it or anything like that so it must be a faulty wand. It says it has a four year warranty. Sadly, I was told that I would have to pay to have it replaced. It will cost me $20, plus I have to ship my old one to them and then pay shipping to send the new one back. o basically because they sent me a faulty product, I have to pay close to $40 total to get it replaced. I feel like this isn't very honest of NUME considering that I can't find anywhere on their site where this is stated and even asked the customer service rep where it was written. Not to mention the fact that they sold me an expensive, but flawed product and are asking me to pay for their mistake. Needless to say, I won't be buying anymore products from NUME. I would love to be able to recommend them to friends and family, but do not feel like I can do this. Please be aware before you purchase a NUME wand that they do not back up their products and will ask you to pay for their mistakes.
