Kalalou CPS1002 Table Top Deer Head, White

Have bought these as gifts. You can have reindeer out all year, just change antlers from branches to hearts to shamrocks to any seasonal garland.

Second purchase...I broke the first one. So unusual and just so fitting for my cabin.

one of the holes in the antler was nearly closed up... I had to bust it open a little to get anything in it. I ended up placing Styrofoam cones in holes, wrapped them with ribbon and placed my sticks in them. Also the paint was glazed on with runs throughout. It looked horrible for the $84 I spent on it. They should charge more like $12-$20 for it.

I absolutely love this tabletop ceramic Deer Head! Finding the perfect branches to place inside the top holes is not as easy as you'd think. In my first attempt, I had simply picked up branches off the ground which turned out to be too big and kept falling forward. Cutting them down to size wasn't doing the trick either. I have decided to go out in the dryer months and cut the end off of a tree branch, hoping it will be just right when I place them. I also thought that I might go to a florist to select just the right (bare) branches to use for a balanced look. Even an artificial set of branches may fit better, and be lighter weight. The lightest weight branch end would probably be most efficient. Meanwhile, it remains to be a focal point on a living room coffee table at this time. I like the smooth white ceramic against my mostly dark wood and modern environment. Will add softness too, as soon as I find the right branches (or green stems) to embellish. Do not use dirty branches. My first ones had a little mud on the tips and so, I had to clean the piece before trying again. The only reason I gave it 4 and not 5-stars is due to the "not so easy" adjusting of the branch "antlers". Maybe others wouldn't be as nit-picky as I am. The piece is truly beautiful in its style and detailing. It was delivered in safe, immaculate condition, no breakage.

This is a wonderful decoration. I tried explaining it to some friends and they thought I was crazy for saying I wanted to get it. Then they saw it and were very impressed by it. Personally, I think it has an air of what I'd call "surreal ominous sophistication." - that is, I think that if I sat in front of it drinking scotch and reading an old book I'd look like an awesome super villain. That... I like that.Full disclosure: My main reluctance purchasing it initially was the price. I've had it on an Amazon wish list for about 6 months debating on if I wanted to actually purchase it. My mom actually happened to come across it recently for a much lower price and I jumped at that chance to pick it up. For the price I paid (almost half of the current Amazon price) I think it's awesome. Had I paid more I'd probably knock a star off. Your mileage may vary.
