Will LOVE win?
I really enjoyed this duology from JEM. She took British royalty and turned it on it's head. She made me believe that they are "just like us" with their feelings and the way they want to live but have to abide by a certain structure given to them. The secrets within a family and twists to add to the drama had me turning the pages wondering where she was going to take Josh and Princess Adeline's story. It was all totally entertaining and well worth the read.Book two started where we left off with book one. The Princess has just experienced much change within a short time. From her relationship with an American to deaths within her immediate family. What is she going to do and what is accepted? Can she change these things or will Love have to be put to the side in favor of honor and her new roll? If you know Josh, he is going to have something to say about it and those are the moments I enjoyed most. Neither one of them knows how to handle this situation, but together they can figure it all out. But will they even be able to BE together?? Or will their responsibilities they both have take over?"I don't care if you're Adeline, a princess, or the Queen of f England. You will not treat me like you are superior. It doesn't suit you. We are equals. Man and Woman. Lovers. Friends. You Love me."These two books are not short, but they are filled with so many juicy tidbits that you are going to want to read more. From the characters in power on both sides of the pond, to the supporting characters that played a huge roll to the Royal setting, it all was full of twists and lies (smoke and mirrors as JEM stated). Some parts felt like it dragged on a bit and in others it just touched over the details too quickly. The book was filled with so much, but I felt like some parts could have been edited out so we could concentrate on more of the family lies and how they came to be. That part seemed rather short for my liking. But overall, this book and the duet really was rather fun, sexy and quite entertaining from a readers point of view. I adored the love Josh had for Adeline and I loved that she was a fighter no matter what. Her love for her man and for her family was relatable.I adored The Queen and her King 😉"Your kisses are mine, Adeline. Your love is mine. YOU are mine."

Awesome!!
Wow! Wow! Wow! Jodi outdid herself! I started this duology on Radish but ended up buying this book on amazon. I just had to have this book. Josh and Adeline go through so much with not only their families but the press, her staff and the public. Adeline was so worried about the monarchy that she knew she couldn't have the monarchy and her love. She was so ready to give Josh up so many times for the crown but they both knew they couldn't live without each other. There were so many smoke and mirrors going on trying to keep the lies at bay and to keep some out of the loop and others in blackmail. If you don't read any other books this year you have got to read these two.

An edge of your seat conclusion to this duet!
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title compliments of NetGalley and the publisher.**His True Queen was one of those books that I was eagerly awaiting and it did not disappoint! When I finished The Controversial Princess, all I wanted was to see how this story was going to end. Jody Ellen Malpas did an amazing job with this duet and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time as this gripping story unfolded.I was drawn in by the complexity of the story, the twists and turns, the deception and the strong attraction between Adeline and Josh. The struggle that Adeline had with her newly acquired role, the her duty to her family and country, and trying to balance those things with her blossoming romance with movie star, Josh was nothing short of captivating.I went through every emotion as I read this book; from anger, to hope, to joy, to sorrow with some angst thrown in as well. Josh and Adeline face every obstacle possible and they continued to fight for one another as they both knew that they were one another's destiny; their one true love. I was blown away by the twists and turns this book took and all that was revealed by the end. Many things I did not see coming which made the enjoyment of this book so much more profound. Smoke and Mirrors was a perfect name for this duet and I would highly recommend picking it up. You will not be sorry!!

A nail-biting, suspenseful and sizzling conclusion to this duology.
After the death of the King and the Heir Apparent, many things come to light that are both shocking and intriguing. Prince Edward would not be King he was not the King's son but the product of an affair. Yet one more thing to be hidden behind smoke and mirrors. After a blood test, the results prove that Adeline would be queen whether she wants it or not.The devastation felt by both her and Josh carries through the funerals and the further still. He gets to confront her while she riding to alleviate the overwhelming stress.Needless to say there is far more going on than meets the eye.A dance at the White House leads to yet another encounter with Josh. The seemingly hopeless situation just gets more intense. With far more eyes watching and waiting. Then there is the persistent suiter Haydon, who does manage to get a ring on her finger, totally under protest. Followed by a most embarrassing first appearance as an engaged couple. As the series name implies, there are many smoke and mirror effects going on and the revelations are truly astonishing.A nail-biting, suspenseful and sizzling conclusion to this duology.

Love always wins.
I like their relationship. But sometimes I think Adeline is immature. And she is easily manipulated. especially about Josh When she misunderstands Josh and decides to marry Hadon. My heart ached, and I pity Josh. She didn't give him the opportunity to explain or listen to the truth. Fortunately, it's not too late. to reject or correct If she were to marry Hadon and know that Josh wasn't unfaithful. Adeline will regret it for the rest of her life. But one of the things I love about Adeline's selfishness. is love for Josh and does not care whether the royal family is satisfied or not Overall, I like this plot.

Hmm... 2.5 stars...
I think I must have been royally spoilt by Mr Jesse Ward as I am struggling to 'take' to this new series. I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about with these books.. I find the subject of the royal family an odd and pretty unbelievable one, I am struggling to even like Josh and Adeline is probably the only saving grace. The books are merely 'ok' - I have read far better cheaper ones and I think we have all got a bit caught up in the hype of Jesse and instantly buy Jodi's books without care nor thought to whether or not the book is worthy of a read or worth the £3.99 price tag. I thought the first half of this book was drawn out and boring - I almost gave up at 43%. I haven't even finished this book yet but felt compelled to write a review as I am at 85% and it is only now livening up which is ever so disappointing. I am probably going to be shot down in hell for daring to give less that 4/5 stars but I have to be honest. This book was simply OK - nothing more, nothing less. I'll see myself out.

A great story but a little too drawn out
I want to start by saying I love JEMs books, there’s no doubt she’s a talented writer and a true Queen of devious story plots... this book was no exception. I was just left feeling slightly disappointed insofar as I’d work out a lot of the secrets quite early on. There were still a couple of surprises that left me going “ Nooooooooo waaaaaaaaay!” And they were all saved for the last part of the book... I am used to jaw droppers springing throughout the story. As always JEM has once again given us a super delicious alpha male to dream over in the shape of Josh Jameson... the potty mouthed Hollywood actor, the sexual tension between Josh and Adeline was palpable, smoking hot and kindle melting worthy. It was a beautiful romantic story. One that will turn your insides gooey. My only criticism was that I felt it was drawn out, I think about 30% of the book could have been edited out without affecting the story or plot. The first half I didn’t feel progressed at all only and was only there to emphasise the sneaking around that’s josh and Adeline had to go through to be together.4 True Queen stars

A sweet, sexy and turbulent love story that will surprise you at every turn...
I'm sort of a little spoilt for what to say about this book, there's so many things I want to rant and rave about...all in a very good way too. I was so bleeming desperate to get my mitts on this baby from the moment I finished The Controversial Princess, that I kind of fell into a bit of a reading rut. I took another pretty phenomenal read to get me back to me, and then His True Queen happened, and I'm back to WTF am I going to do now? Well, I'm hoping Miller Hart will sort me out...it's been a while since he and I rendezvoused and it's time we get reacquainted.Anyway, I digress... So, like I said in my review for TCP, the storyline really reminds me of The Royals TV show, however, I actually found it to be so much better. There is something so unique about this story, and it's not the whole Royal X Hollywood romance crossover, I actually found the characters rather unique. I found their chemistry and bond so organic and natural from the off and I liked that they weren't your generic love will conquer all, fuddy duddy protagonists. They are very real and raw. They have a lot on their plates and I liked that at no point it felt like there was an obvious and easy decision they could make to fix their predicament. I loved the angst that arose from their hurdles. I think it gave the story edge and it made it really difficult to put down, and not to mention all the twists and turns. Yes, I have to say that I sort of saw it coming, but even when it happened I was so close to throwing my kindle. I mean, it was all going so well and then it all fell apart and it was devastating. So freaking devastating, I'm still reeling from it.If you know me, you'll know that I am a massive Jodi fan and with this duet...duology (I say potato, you say potahtoe...) I have to admit that she has outdone my every expectation. There's this slight nod to kink, but it's very minor and I actually found myself not questioning it as much in this book. In the first book I thought that the spankings were going to become something more, that it would be tied in to some big heart-wrenching ghost of Josh's past...it isn't. I mean, it's just one of the things they enjoy, and quite frankly, good on them. I'd let Mr. Jameson spank me anytime. (I feel like that's TMI, but oh well!) If I'm honest, I actually think that it not being anything other than sexy fun kept the story fresh. You know, the whole guy needs kink to cope with his past trope has been done way, way too much and I'm just so flipping glad that Ms. Malpas stayed clear of it!I don't think there was anything I struggled with. There wasn't anything I could pick at, and there certainly wasn't anything that made me cringe or feel like the story was try hard. Even when the lines got a little cheesy or porno-ish. I just lapped this baby up like a camel at an oasis in the middle of a dry desert. Something I never thought I'd say.Again, as I mentioned in my TCP review, I found these characters impossible not to love. Apart from his dirty mouth and his swoon factor, Josh is a romance readers dream hero. I liked that although he didn't always make the right decision, or say the right thing that he always had Adeline's best interest at heart. I liked that he was willing to do what it took for her to succeed in whatever she chose. I think that the way he acts and reacts to their situation (as fairytale-y as it is) it is very real. Maybe it's because of the whole Harry-Meghan thing, but I actually feel that it's because of the story and the characters themselves. They are characters that you feel like you are one with. Adeline, oh my...this woman. She's so vulnerable and soft, but yet, she has this strength that is soldered to every single rung of her backbone. I loved that she wasn't scared of ruffling feathers. I loved that she went out of her way to do the best for the people around her. I loved that she wasn't selfish, or self-absorbed. She had the power, she wasn't afraid to use it and for the most part she stuck to her guns whilst doing the best for everyone. All in all, this is a story that I will be coming back to time and again. It's a story that I can see myself fawning over every single read. This is a Royal romance that will be very freaking hard to beat!

Wowsers
JEM has done it again, this second and final installment of the smoke and mirrors series sees things hotting up between Adeline and Josh. Forced to take the throne due to shocking revelations Adeline is hemmed in from all sides. With only a few scant people in her corner she must navigate royal duty with navigating a broken heart. The one man she wants is not suitable for the Queen of England and so ensues a heart wrenching conclusion. This book gripped me from the first page and didn't let go. It was a one sitting read. Talk about a roller-coaster of emotions that Jodi wrings from you, hope to dispare, love to hate, shock to awe, anxiety to excitement it had it all in spades. Josh is wonderful in his passion and determination for Adeline, no-one, not even the English royal family is going to tell him who he can and can't be with.

His True Queen
Loved it, loved it,loved it!!!!A fantastic continuation of the story of Josh and Adeline. There are some twists in the story that could have finished their relationship completely.Jodi has a way of writing that keeps you hooked. The alpha male (Josh) is strong and protective whilst being loving and sexy at the same time.Adeline his queen shows just how suited to the roll she is, when she takes control of her own future. There are many who don't want them to be together but true determination and a few shocks along the way lead to them living their lives how they want to,not being ruled by others. This book is suitable for people looking for a romantic, sexy read with a great story.Well done Jodi. Another fantastic read. I can't wait for the next book xx
