Tough On the Heart
This is the horrific story of Lucy, a small child. To give you a taste before buying, this book only contains roughly 50 pages and is a sampleย of the complete story. By the time Lucy was eleven, she'd moved from home to homeโat least thirty timesโquickly from one person to another. After Lucy's mother, an abusedย single mother who was homeless gave birth, things only got worse. The bulk of the time, this is a dismal novel that leaves you feeling horrible rather than being a book to cheer you up. Children shouldn't be handled in this manner or exposed to the situations that Lucy had to go through.

Ms. Glass is the best writer of true stories!
I just finished "Will you love me" last night and WOW! When you told her she got to stay I had tears dripping off my chin. ALL she ever wanted was a family and home she could call her own. I was so worried about the lack of food she was eating and was worried about organ shut down because of it, that did scare me a bit in the book. Lucy you are the luckiest lady in the whole world. You have the best Mom that one could ever ask for. I truly am sorry the system failed you so badly and took so long to get you to your for-ever Mom/Mum! Cathy I praise you from the bottom of my heart, coming from being adopted at 12 yrs old when my birth Mom/Mum was killed in a car crash. My Mom's best friend at the time adopted me but she was only 12 yrs older then me at 24 yrs old. I lost my dear Mom/Mum in 2008 and it still breaks my heart that I lost my 2nd Mom/Mum to early. I first found your book "damaged" this year when I got a kindle, and I have gone and read I think all the rest of your books. I have them on my kindle but I might have to order the whole collection for my book collection, so that I can share them with some of my friends who read. They of course have not heard of your books as I have never seen them in any stores, and I am always scanning ALL the books, so I would not have missed these! I do hope this is not the last story you have, (not meaning I want more kids to be hurt and go into care!) but I know that there are so many kids out there going through this. The wonderful story of how Lucy became your legal daughter was by far the most touching of all. I had just finished the book about Alice when I stated Lucy's book, so at the end of Lucy's book when you get Alice I figure I was already ahead! THANK YOU so MUCH, not just for your wonderful books, but most important to for being a foster Mom and a carer who really DOES care! Bless you and all the children who come through your home. I hope to see more updates of each of the kids on your website, and I look often to see if there are any updates, hoping in anticipation! I will have to say your editors have to be in tears the whole time they work on your books, bless them for helping you put out some awesome books! Sad but true!

Social Devices Failure
Lucy had a long history of neglect and abuse. Her mother, Bonnie abandoned her. Then reappeared only to leave again. Lucy blamed social workers for her many moves and then not protecting her. She arrived at Cathy Glasses as a long term placement until the proper ethnic family could be found for her.

A mother and daughter finally finding one another...
By age eleven, Lucy had lived at a staggering 30 or more different addresses, being passed from stranger to stranger every few months. Born to a homeless single mother, herself the victim of abuse and neglect, Lucy was merely the next generation in her family's chaotic history.Without any sense of stability, it's amazing Lucy held up as well as she did - to most people who met her, the little girl seemed quiet and eager to please, due to her lifetime of trying to fit into the households of strangers. Yet Lucy was internalizing her pain and isolation. Beneath the surface was a girl who was brimming with anger at a world who didn't want her, through absolutely no fault of her own. Never having had the support, Lucy struggled to keep up with her schoolwork and she also dealt with her anxiety through food. All in all, at the tender age of eleven, it seemed that everyone had already given up on Lucy. Then Lucy came to live in yet another foster home. Thanks to Cathy Glass, an experienced carer, Lucy slowly began to deal with her past and to build a solid sense of self for both the present and future. And, as Glass soon discovered, at the root of it all was Lucy's simple wish -- to have someone to love her. Once she had that, Lucy could truly conquer anything.Having read many of Glass' other books about fostering, I can say with confidence this one holds up to her usual excellent standard. However, as Lucy's story has been intertwined with those of other children, as Glass eventually adopts her, this book was especially anticipated and welcome.Best wishes to both mother and daughter, having found one another when life could so easily have sent them down another path! It seems it was truly meant to be.

Another special story from Cathy Glass
I very much enjoyed Will You Love Me? I had been waiting for this book for a long time, ever since I heard Cathy was planning to write it, since Lucy is mentioned in some of her other memoirs. I had wondered what Cathy's adopted daughter Lucy's past had been like, and it was indeed very sad. She was neglected physically and emotionally, and at the mercy of Social Services moving her so many times that she could not find stability or trust in a family. Her birth mother also had a history of abuse and neglect, so it was no wonder she could not parent Lucy. Thank goodness she saw that Lucy would do better in care, and freed her for adoption by Cathy. Lucy's life changed for the better in so many ways; if Cathy had not been the one to intervene, Lucy may have ended up like her own mother, and the cycle continue. She also had an eating disorder caused by anxiety and early deprivation of proper meals. Now Lucy is a normal, loved young adult, with a career and a family and she has overcome her seedy and sad past. However, I find Lucy on all the books she is mentioned in, rather abrasive, thoughtless when she speaks and opinionated. Some is excusable given her past, but she does not sound entirely likeable.I very much enjoy Cathy Glass' books and especially this one, as the reader has got to 'know' Lucy from previous works. Cathy is a wonderful person as well as writer.

Cathy Glass is my idol! No one better than her.. her books always take me back to old childhood memories ๐ค๐ฅ these books are my therapy. I always thought it was jus me suffering! (Although horrible to know others are also going through it) that I'm not alone.. us damaged children or adults having to go thru a unhealthy childhood by actions or choices from our parents even family members! That used whatever power they had to harm us or neglect us! Make us feel unwanted and rejecting our love to point you dont kno wat love is and become scared of it! Its horrible. I got kids and because wat I went thru... as a child I'm always questioning myself never been loved. Not properly. Cathy Glass helps by no matter what she faced she still keeps going... your absolute favourite of mine! I love you n your books so much. Thank you god bless you ๐
