I bought the 4'x6' size to put under our coffee table. We have wood floors and two rescue dogs - one sheds like crazy so I'm constantly vacuuming, and the other came from a hoarding situation, is still working on house training, and loves to pee on whatever rug we have under the coffee table. We've had to throw out three rugs over the past year because they all got so gross. I decided to search for machine-washable rugs and found these - I wish I'd done that a year ago. These toe the line between a rug and a mat - the fibers are very short and it's kind of a velvety material with a nice sheen to it. Since the fibers are so short and not looped, this rug is very easy to vacuum and blot dry - it doesn't trap dirt or liquids, and dog hairs don't get permanently weaved into it. I also love the backing - it doesn't slip, and it prevents liquids from seeping through to the floor. The colors are very vibrant and pretty. Some other reviewers noted that their rugs were less gray than the photos, and mine was the same - the parts that look light gray in the photos are actually an off-white color. We have shades of both white and gray in our living room, so the color difference wasn't a problem for me. I've had my rug for about two weeks now and I've already washed it once - I put it in the washing machine on a gentle cycle with cool water, regular Tide powder, and some Lysol laundry sanitizer, and then tossed it over a shower curtain rod to dry. Washing didn't damage or fade it, and it air-dried in about 24 hours, making this by far the easiest rug cleaning I've ever done in my life. I really wish these were available in larger sizes (something in the 7'x9' to 9'x11' range) because we have an area rug in our dining room that I would love to replace with one of these. Overall a great product for anyone who has pets (or kids) and needs something easy to clean.Update: I've now machine-washed this rug probably 6 times over the last 8 months, and it still looks like new. This thing is magic.

If you’re looking for a high quality beautiful heirloom, this is not it. If you’re looking for a rug that you can machine wash at home when your cat pukes on it, this is a great option.

I would hesitate to call this a rug. It's more like a large mat with a picture of a rug printed on it. Very misleading from the pictures.

So I have bought this brand as well as the well woven brand washable area rugs. I have a puppy so I put them to the rest. Both of them are thin like a mat. This makes sense because there is no freaking way a regular area rug would fit in your washing machine so if you want a normal area rug this is not for you. I wanted 2 things. Cover my floor without sliding around and wash well. Here is the run down and differences in each brand.I prefer this brand (mylife) and here is why. The backing is a solid vinyl sheet, sort of like those plastic picnic table cloths. Well woven also has a rubbery back and while neither brand moves I like the waterproof backing of this one. The feel of the 2 rugs is quite different. Well woven feels like a very low pile carpet with no squishy ness rough to the touch but those looking for one that looks like more of a rug might like that. This brand Has a little squish when you step on it and the feel of it is like a velvety feel. They both wash great in a top loading washer and I hang outside to dry. Dries pretty quick.

I bought two to cover the floor area. I needed washable becasue of ill-trained dogs :) I like the colors (they match my couch). I added blue velvet curtains and it really pulled the room together. The rug(s) do not slip at all and I can wash them (separately) in a regular home washer and dryer. They faded slightly after a few washes but I actually like the faded look a bit better. Soft to walk on and although not thick, they do offer cushion under my feet. I would prefer a 6 x 8 instead of using two but then I would have to use a hose outside to wash it, so this is convenient.Update: I have had these for about 2 years and they still look really good after MANY washings. I wash them about 1-2 times per month using regular wash and dry cycle. They didnt have the 5 x7 size back when I bought these and now I am thinking of getting the 5 x 7 instead of using the two 4 x6 rugs. Not sure I can fit the 5 x 7 in the washing machine, but if I do, I will update again :)

I have 3 senior dogs that aren't in the best control of their bodily functions anymore, and I foster dogs, so with that kind of furry traffic in my house, floors and rugs that can be easily cleaned are infinitely important in my house. This rug is not only easy to clean, just stick it in the wash machine, but it is soft and beautiful. I couldn't give it ten stars, so I had to settle for 5. It's awesome and I wish I had more rooms to put it in so I could order more.

It's not a rug!!! It's printed velvet with a non skid backing... Do yourself a favor and don't buy it... Wasn't worth the money.

I had to machine wash it shortly after we received it (doggie accident) and it washed exceptionally well (on cold) and dried in an hour, just by laying it flat.

Doesn’t look anything like the picture. It is a very cheap looking rug. The backing is brown plastic, the colours are garish and it is very thin. Be careful if you order it and want to return. The shipping costs to return are more than the price of this awful item.
