Surprisingly Good Cleaning Performance
Really didn't know what to expect from this, could this really replace our regular vacuum cleaner? The answer is a perhaps. It obviously can't do stairs, and other hard to reach places, but it's a great pairing with a cordless stick cleaner (D* or whatever), It's a really great timesaver, and has superb cleaning abilities.=======Cleaning=======We regularly vac a couple of times a week with our "D*" cleaner, and we set this loose, and after cleaning half the downstairs, it told be the chamber needed emptying, not because it's overly small, but because it picked up so much more out our carpet. After this initial run, the amount it was picking up settled down, and the cleaning chamber was more than sufficient for it's needs, and it tells you when it needs emptying (on the robot, and in the app)================App (Android Tested)================I really liked the app (Android), the ability to schedule cleans, and it gives you a map of your house and what it's cleaned. You don't need to be on the same network as the robot (the robot has wifi, and it's cloud connected), so you can see the map, it's status, and control it from your phone when you are outside the house. You get notifications as to what it's doing, when the bin needs emptying, and if it's got any errors.=====Setup=====Setup was easy, install the app, turn it on it's head, which puts it into discovery mode, connect to it, give it your Wifi name and password, give it a name, and save, and it's good to go. We did have some problems with it not parking in it's dock correctly. We contacted support, and they advised us to try a different location, the opposite wall ideally, as longer carpets have a "grain" direction and it can sometimes affect it's to drive accurately into the dock. We did this and it; fixed the problem. It now goes back to it's charger and recharges itself and then goes back and finishes it's clean if it didn't complete it's task.=======Updates=======When we initially set ours up, it asked if we wanted to update the firmware, I would definitely recommend doing this, as the version we updated to at time of review (38.7) added some nice features, most notably, the ability to start cleans from locations other than the dock, so you can take "him" (ours is a him, he is called SuckyMcSuckFace, you can name him in the app!!!) to a different floor, and unleash him awesome cleaning potential elsewhere, previously with the older firmware, it would try and find the dock (and fail). The newer firmware also adds IFTTT integration, so you can create a Google Assistant task to Start Cleaning and Stop Cleaning. It's sightly more complicated than setting it up in Google Home directly, you need an IFTTT (free) account, and connect Google Assistant with Electrolux Pure i9 (the AEG RX9 is exactly the same as the Electrolux Pure i9, using the same app, same cloud, same hardware).======Overall======Really impressed by ours, it cleans really well, and gets really close to edges of rooms, far better than our regular cleaner. I don't think you will get away from occasional cleaning if you have stairs etc, but it's a great addition. Whilst gadget lovers will love it for sure, you definitely don't need to be a gadget lover to appreciate it's function.
