Works for years!
I ordered this brand as I thought my old one was broken. It only needed a new battery by pulling out the bottom plug above the poles. Now I can get more for decorating and water alerts. When I first opened it it was chirping for a bit. So I placed it in a small cup of water until it stopped. Once I dried off the posts it chirped as it should and I think that's what activates it initially. If you have any issues with chirping after watering check PH balance of your soil, add fresh soil, or place in cup of water and then dry off poles. After that it works long term and very effective. I love that it is solar powered to stop at night. That is the most convenient method. I don't have much of a green thumb when it comes to plants so these are an adorable reminder to water and keep soil fresh!

Doesn’t work. Junk.
Doesn’t work. For a week it was silent. Never chirped, even when I knew plant was dry. Watered the plant and this thing started chirping/croaking loudly and wouldn’t stop, even when removed from soil and dried. Had to break it open and remove battery to make it stop. Had to throw it away.

Would have been 5 star if not for the Frog!
They are cute, seem to work better then I did. The chirping is spaced out and something I could ignore for a few hours if the urge hits me. Then I got the frog. Pulled the tab and even in a glass of water it kept going. I don’t find it charming it’s annoying, so I put it upstairs. The first one went back of course and the second went upstairs ( they replace with same item). When that one starts, you can hear it downstairs and you get off your ass abandoned water the plant! But the second one did not stop and I Really watered the plant. I took it and set it in water and it took about a minute to reset (I also touched the legs together, read that somewhere). All the others are great, not fond of the Robin, looks like paper on it’s wings. I put them in all my troubled plants that need to stay moist. They are all perking up. FYI if your older don’t place two birds in plants next to each other, every time I turned to walk away, it started up again. Third time I realized.

I like the little frog but could never get it to work correctly

Plant moisture check/alert is a keeper.
This frog designed moisture checker with an audible alarm sounds when when a plant needs a drink. It is exactly what I was looking for. The audible alarm is a mid-range croaking sound (ribit ribit ribit) about every 15 seconds, and not a high-pitched electronic whine. It looks good at the base of the plants and additionally has a light sensor to silence the alarm when the room is dark. This item comes as a two pack which fit my needs perfectly. I am happy and my plants are happy.

It won't shut-up!
I got the frog. It started croaking after I put it in my pot. I watered my plant. It croaked. I moved it around the pot. It croaked. I pulled it out of the soil. It croaked. I placed it in a cup of water. Yup.. still croaked. There is no off switch. I pulled the battery out to make it stop! I read instructions on the box & apparently it detects Ph level & if it's not correct, it will croak. So apparently my Ph level is off. The description didn't say anything about it detecting Ph levels. I'm not that 'into' plants to worry about Ph levels. They are green & growing so to me they are fine.

Great little plant water reminders.
Love these little birds. Sometimes they chirp when not warranted, I just reposition them and they are fine. Note: Make sure that the two legs are not touching when putting them in the dirt.

Cute as a button, but
This item did work for about twelve hours. Then I adjusted it within the pot, and the piece emitted a high frequency feedback sound that did not stop. Too bad, I was enamored with the concept.
