These are the way go to... just outstanding!
The Gardena system of quick connects are great for swapping watering heads and tools onto hoses quickly and securely. These small male adapters are used on spray nozzles, sprinklers and other hose-end attachments. The Gardena female hose-end adapters screw onto the end of your garden hose and securely mate to these little male adapters. Get one female hose adapter for each of your garden hoses, and a slew of these little males adapters for your nozzles, sprinklers and other hose-end tools.A few commenters have noted that the Gardena system leaks. In our use, this is not so... but the plastic connectors are not really up to supporting the weight of a really long garden hose when fully charged with water. If you need to pull a garden hose along behind you, grab the hose, not the hose-end attachment secured by the Gardena system.... and do not leave the hose flexed in such a way that it applies torque to the adapters. Doing either of those will make for a leak, and in the first case it is possible to pull the Gardena system entirely off the hose if you really yank on the hose-end tool.A final note: The Gardena combo packs -- Gardena 36004 Garden Hose Quick Connector Starter Set -- also have female connectors for tools and male connectors for the end of the hose. I guess you could use this system in the reverse manner I described, but the little male adapters shown here are less expensive, so buying fewer of the female connectors and more of the male adapters is the way we use the system.... Wish you could just buy a big ole' bag of male accessory adapters, as that is what we need the most of.

Convenient "wet-swapping" hose accessories!
Very convenient - clicks on and off with water pressure ON, and no leaks. I easily swap hose accessories without turning the water off and then on again.Quality is OK. My wife broke one because she didn't understand the quick-disconnect concept. If she could break it, it's not really all that substantial. I have them on most of our hose accessories though without any more problems.THEY DO NOT WORK WELL WTIH BRASS COUPLERS. Use plastic-to-plastic or metal-to-metal only. These leaked with a brass fitting but not with the plastic they were designed for.

Convenience with questionable durability
Quick release systems are very convenient. We're sold on that type of functionality. And while these particular adapters work very well in terms of leaking, ease of use, etc. I think the durability is somewhat questionable. We have this installed on a hose end that then attaches to a jet spray head. During watering, we pulled/yanked on the jet spray head to free more hose. Immediately the adapter broke right in the middle at the area where the plastic is narrowest but begins to widen.I'm not sure these are worthwhile in the long term, but because this happened within the 30-day return window, Amazon overnighted a set of new adapters to us. There's a reason Amazon is amazing. I also ordered an additional package of them to have as spares. At less than $3.00 each, these items aren't expensive, but if they keep breaking as often and as easily as the last one, I don't think it's a long term solution and I'll consider changing quick release connector systems.Update 5-19-2013Went through another package of two. This now seems to be the norm. One new connector per hose per season.

Excellent Product
I have always preferred Metal over Plastic. However over the last few years, Gardena has made me at least a partial convert. I used Nelson's Metal Quick Connect Items for many years. While very sturdy, I found them problematic. They require a special type of washer. Things have to be tightened just right, not too tight or loose, or they would leak. Seems like I was always replacing the expensive washers and fine tuning the tightness of the connections to try to stop them from leaking.Since I converted to these Gardena Quick Connects, I have had No Problems with them at all. Finally, No Leaking! Even though Gardena products are pretty much all plastic, the quality is excellent.

Good quality but too pricey
Works better than other brand connectors, but costs more than it needs to; further, you can't get a quantity of the part you want.

Beware - Not US Threads
I have used Gardena for 35 years and it is the only way to go. Anybody who does not use quick connect for their hoses is simply struggling for no reason. Even in AZ they stand up to the sun although if you drop the hoses on a concrete surface they do crack as they become a little brittle. Not generally known is that Gardena make 2 types of accessory adapters - gray as a universal (European thread) and orange as the US thread. Having come from outside the USA I have both. The gray thread works in the USA but leaks a little and it drives me nuts as it drips while using various sprayers and nozzles. This set comes with gray adapters and being sold by Amazon to US customers should have the correct adapters. The correct item is a Gardena 2922 to be found at [...]Not sure where to find the orange ones, but be aware. Amazon should get it right. I give Gardena 5 stars, but this pack is incorrect and I mark it down .. a lot.

This is not a standalone product.
It is part of a set of products made by Gardena to easily attach and detach from a hose or faucet. I have used the Gardena products for about two years. I like the couplers/decouplers a lot. First, because they are quite easy to use. Second, because they are inexpensive. I've used other similar but more expensive products in the past and the Gardena products last just as long or longer. The adapters (this product) last about a year of heavy use (your mileage may vary but I live in Texas and have an extensive garden so I water every day). They are not frost proof and will crack if left outside during a freeze. That's about the only negative I can think of.

These are just good, however they tend to break easily
These are just good, however they tend to break easily. I would recommend the metal ones in places where they will have to take a little shock. Broke two by dropping the hose on the ground when washing the car. Work good for lawn sprinklers, garden products that need to be attached to a hose. Just do not drop the hose hard.
