I love shave ice. Truly, I love anything that is cloud-like in texture. Basically, I dream of eating clouds.I purchased this on a whim as it had appeared on my suggested items. I excitedly showed it to my partner, and he was like "well, at that price you might as well try it."It comes with 4 little containers to freeze perfectly shaped iced- These really make it so easy. The ice pops out of the container effortlessly and fits neatly into the apparatus. The crank is easy to turn and does not take much effort at all. The delicate shaved ice the machine produces is the powdery texture of freshly fallen snow (to produce this texture, the ice block must still be very frozen.)One ice block produces approximately 2.5 to 3 bowls full of shave ice.It's a delight! I'm obsessed! I find myself making shave ice after dinner as a little treat 2 to 3 times a week. I have yet to freeze anything other than water but I'm planning on steeping some very strong tea and freezing it as well as potentially some milk.Tldr; it's great. Bought it on a whim and holy balls, I did not expect to love it this much.

Believe it or not, I bought this for my dog who adores eating snow. In fact, in the winter, he will not drink water at all unless we are having a drought and there is no snow or ice on the ground for him to chew or lick up. As spring arrives and the snow melts, he goes through a tough withdrawal period of having to resign himself to drinking water again. I got this gadget to help him transition.I can freeze some fresh filtered water in the convenient containers that come with this. They make nicely molded cylinders or cakes of ice that fit perfectly in the receptacle of the device. These cylinders work way better than just using ice cubes, because the shaving blade can ride smoothly over the cylindrical ice blocks and create a uniform fluffy snow. The snow that is produced is amazing. It looks just like the real thing, and is not lumpy or crunchy like chopped ice. Place a bowl under the blade to catch the snow. I put some of the snow in my dog's dish and he gobbles it up, and I put the leftovers in the freezer for later. I'm sure this would also be useful for making icy drinks and desserts. The snow is fine textured and pretty. This product is very reasonably priced, easy to clean (just rinse and dry) and easy to operate. If you try to use ice cubes in it, the crank will be MUCH harder to turn, so use the molds to make ice cylinders.
