Waveshare WM8960 Audio Hi-Fi Sound Card HAT for Raspberry Pi Stereo CODEC Play Record I2S Interface

It was easy to fit this to the Raspberry Pi GPIO pins and the provided speakers then simply plug in. To get it working go to the Waveshare web site, click on the product in the Pi Hub section, click on the wiki link at the bottom of that screen and then you can access the user guide. Follow the the instructions to download and install the drivers (installation takes a minute or so), select as your default audio device and you have a working sound device. I have used it with VLC Media Player and Kodi on my Pi. Sound quality is good for the price

Audio quality could be better from the speakers, but I'm not sure what I expected given the size. They're functional and work well enough, and the hat has inputs for a wired upgrade when the time comes.

Ok so I installed the hat and followed the driver's install on both pi 3b and pi 4.That card works and I get audio and microphone working.but.....The driver's always report as failing. Not sure what's wrong but after testing on multiple pis I didn't worry as the card was working.

Have this up and running on a Pi Zero, it works very well with excellent sound quality. I wish there was a version that could take audio line input.

Seems like a well made piece of electronics but depending on how your Raspberry Pi 5 is set up, if it can be made to work. It is a software issue. Anyone who has worked with the vagaries and uncertainty of Raspberry Pi and Bookworm may understand why things work on one device and not on another. I have opted for the clean kill by using a USB plug and play card. So small, so simple, it works! And only a fiver.

I never did manage to get this sound card working with my Raspberry pi, i ditched it for a USB sound card instead.
