I've been using my VIS 500 for commuting in the city 80 min/day 3 or 4 days a week. I find I can reliably charge it once a week and use it all week easily, and sometimes well into the next week. I use the pulse mode, since I'm more concerned about being seen than seeing where I'm going. It's plenty bright at night, and it survives being dropped, rained on, and all the things you'd expect it to be subjected to riding around Chicago.It's a great light - and when I messed up charging it, I got in touch with customer service and they replaced it. This is why I went with an actual brand and not the 1,000 commodity no-name lights all over Amazon. Really happy with this product.

I'm only getting about an hour and forty-five minutes on the brightest setting after a full charge. Bought a refurbished unit so I may have gotten what I paid for. The much discussed trickiness of the lock/unlock feature is definitely "operator error." I haven't had any issues since I quit rage-mashing the button. As for the waterproofing, I've made several rides in Florida rainstorms with no issues. Light and Motion has been my go-to brand for dive lights for a few decades.

There was a Prime Day sale on the highly rated Light & Motion Vis 500, low enough for me to replace the much used (and now worn out) Blitzu Gator on the triplet. Most of my complaints about lights usually revolve around the mount, so I was very impressed when the mount came with an easy on/off rubber strap, and a fantastic retention pin that was easy to use. Once mounted the mount was tight, and worked great.The actual light operation was awful. A lot of it can be attributed to the worthless "lock" mode. To turn on the light, you have to press and hold the button so it turns on. Hold on to that button too long, however, and it activates "lock" mode. That means the light won't turn on no matter what. So you find yourself flipping the light from lock to unlock and never being able to turn the light on consistently. One day, I found myself unable to turn on the light whatsoever. Maybe it was not charged, but the little LED would flip from one side to the other, indicating that I was doing something. Charging the light did nothing.I called the customer support line, and Light & Motion's voice messaging system (in the middle of the day) said because of the pandemic they weren't taking phone calls (apparently COVID19 spreads through cell networks and telephone wires --- who knew?). They gave me an e-mail address which bounced instead.What a shitty customer experience, and what a horribly designed light. I went back to the Blitzu Gator, which is now $10. The mount was so promising, but the horrible UI and complete lack of customer service was a deal breaker.

This is my second light n motion bike light. My previous light lasted almost ten years, and I wish that this new light had the same settings. I am expecting this to last a long time, but don't like the locking mechanism. When you’re riding your bike in the city, you need to change the intensity or strobe sometimes and getting locked out is not user friendly. Other than the new lock out settings, this flash light seems reliable and heavy duty. Its brighter than my old one and I’m sure it’ll light my way for years to come!

So far so good!! Very bright!! Solid build. Impressed so far. I will definitely be seeing on the dawn and dusk trails.Will update after use

I love light and motion bike lights. Excellent construction, waterproof to an extent, shockproof, easy recharging via USB, seems more powerful than 500 lm. Dependable, top quality.

Would be great but loses its charge after one bike ride.
