Outstanding performance

To the buy price, this is an outstanding extender with nice features. The wifi coverage is great. Been using it to extend wifi from downstairs to second stairs floor. This extender has an ethernet port so you can use it as an access point if the coverage is lacking. The settings and installation app is easy to use and straightforward with appealing features such as location assistant, led control, onemesh, and speed mode.Be mindful as onemesh requires a compatible router of the same, using another brand may or will not work under onemesh.Giving this product a 5 stars, as it deserves. Will highly recommend.

Got this to replace a Netgear repeater and it works well, apart from...

This is a very nice item, it works very well, it's easy to set up and the 1Gb LAN output is very useful. But, we have had a few power cuts recently and on each power cut the device does not reboot or even switch on. For most people this is maybe not such a problem. But we had to mount this high up on a building and its a bit of a journey to go and switch it back on after a power cut. I know some devices simply reboot after a power cut, sadly this one doesn't. As I said, maybe not such an issue for most people.

Overall good but needs to improve WiFi range strength

Easy setup, supports 2 GHz and 5 GHz signals. Build quality is solid. Why I didn’t give it a 5 star rating is because for this price I expected the range to be more strong. I live in a medium size 2 bedroom flat and I expected the signal to have 3 bars. Unfortunately one of the rooms you get a one bar only. Overall good but I expected more WiFi range for the price.

Simple and Awesome Wifi Extender

An awesome wifi extender. Very easy to configure and once done the wifi extender extends the internet coverage at places in the house where internet speed was slow earlier. If you have a wifi in one room and using your Internet devices such as laptop or mobile in another room with door closed, the wifi extender is a great relief. The internet speed doesn't decrease if you connect the wifi extender.

So easy to set up and works great!

Was skeptical that a wifi extender would work for my study upstairs as have real issues getting signal from the ground floor to the upstairs bedrooms. A mixture of really thick walls and pipes I guess as well as wooden doors block wifi signals. I tend to prefer 5G rather than 2G, as well as the speeds, are better with all the other wifi units in the area interfering with the signals.I set it up with my access points downstairs and took it upstairs to the hallway, and now all rooms are serviced so well with a decent wifi speed so I can work productively from my office now. Fantastic! I used to use a power line extender with an old wifi router but it kept dropping out and the signal on the power line extender was dreadful. I get up to 350Mb/s download out of a 500Mb/s line upstairs which is more than sufficient for what I need for Gaming and IPTV.

I would not recommend this; TP-Link needs to improve

You would buy this product for 2 reasons, 1) you heard it supports OneMesh; or 2) you want to use it as an AP and extend the wireless coverage in your home. This device comes with 2 operation modes, one is extender i.e. it catches wireless signal and extends it (this is the only mode where OneMesh is supported) and the second mode is AP mode i.e. where it uses the wired connectivity and extends that further. The OneMesh on this (and unfortunately most other brands as well) support Mesh with wireless backhaul only, meaning that even though this device has an ethernet port, you won't be able to enjoy the speeds you like because it won't work in mesh. This is a huge drawback for me, considering that I'd rather put the AP in the further corner of my home where I get very low signals. So if it has a wireless backhaul this means, it will catch a bad signal and will be limited by the speed of that signal; thus I won't be getting good speeds that I can get otherwise using proper devices. I have a TP-Link Archer C7 (V5), which supports mesh, but I wasn't able to use it properly as I mentioned above. Another issue I had, when I did set it up in the wireless backhaul mesh mode was that both the speeds of my main router and this AP were really slow for some reason. I am going to take a guess and say it's because of the congestion or the fact that the wireless backhaul was trying to us one of the channels (2.4G) as the other one had a weak signal. The AP connectivity was very weird on this device. While trying to connect it via AP mode (after already trying to create the OneMesh as I mentioned above); it would create another "Open" wireless network named 'HT_AP1' and I couldn't seem to turn it off, I also updated the firmware to the latest version but no use. Anyway, after much fiddling around, I realized, I had to go back into my main router (Archer C7) settings and remove this device from the OneMesh connected device list. First, in AP mode, where it uses the wire, it doesn't support OneMesh. Second, it was creating issues for me, so once I removed the device. It seemed to work fine, but who know for how long until it creates that open network once again.Another main drawback of this device is that the ethernet port is not Gigabit, so the AC1200 speed that it markets will never be realized, the max it will give you (as I tested it) is 97Mbps download, far lower that what you should expect with AC1200.I couldn't understand and resolve the issue, so I decided to return this device back. I wish TP-Link were paying more attention to what devices they are making.
