Great for making dotting stones
Cheaper to buy at Hobby lobby. Twice the product for half the price.

Smooth!
Love the smooth result of this product. Wish it wasn't so pricey, but it's worth it.

Perfect for reclaiming clay!
This plaster is very easy to use, simply mix per the directions (I used the 8lb bag) and you can make a nice slab for recycling your clay. The inside of a plastic container works well, and after 1/2 hour or so you can pop it out, then let cure for 24 hrs. I’ll be covering this with a pillow case to avoid any bits of plaster getting into the clay, but the surface came out nice and smooth.

Works for a beginner for molds...but bag won't zip shut.
The plaster is fine while I learn mold making, but the zipper bag is impossible to close. I'm afraid moisture will get into it and make the plaster clump.

Just expensive Plaster of Paris, detail the same
I am not sure if "Perfect Plaster" is worth the $3.56 a pound compared to normal high quality DAP plaster at $1.94 per pound. The impression made with highly detailed fossils are almost identical as shown in the photos provided. One tip I can give if you use "Perfect Plaster", use water between 40 and 45F... or just throw it all away. Also, don't "slake" the paster like they show in internet videos. In those videos they are using either Hydrocal or Pottery Plaster... both are entirely different animals from Plaster of Paris. Perfect Plaster is just that... expensive Plaster of Paris.Sift in your plaster, let it set a minute, then mix. DON'T let it sit very long before mixing. Also, if you go from a ratio of 2:1 to 1.75:1 - you will get better detail. 2:1 is just too think and that 0.25 ratio thinning makes all the difference in detail and bubble elimination. Also, do not use distilled water... the reaction will run away for some reason. I guess the hardness of normal tap water acts as a weird endothermic moderator. Anyway... don't go there. Tap water is fine.Unless you are trying to exactly reproduce scratches or fine lines of feathers - my recommendation is save you money and just buy the DAP Plaster of Paris - also available on Amazon.

Yes it’s expensive
Works great. Yes it’s a small bag, but my clay supply store is only open ½ Saturday a month. Just follow the directions to make a great pottery bat. I used flexible cake molds. Poured water into the mold for depth, measured that, then added plaster SLOWLY, poured it all back into mold. 2 days later… all ready to go!
