Scent is amazing
I took a chance and ordered this Mastic resin. I have never smelled mastic incense before, so this was really a blind order. The bag arrived in a timely manner, and was well packaged. I weighed it, and the bag plus contents weighed 268 grams, so I am well satisfied there (my order was for 250 grams). The resin is all small pieces of pure resin. No bark, twigs or dirt. It is white to off white in color. A+ there. The smell out of the bag is nothing like I've smelled before. I suspect at some point, it has sat out among assorted "Egyptian and Turkish spices", and has picked up some of those odors, which is not a big deal. I could also be wrong. I'm going to try to burn some ASAP. I will try to edit this review after I smell the actual fragrance. Looking forward to it.If it is mastic, the price is a steal. For people not used to resin incense, no, this isn't "plastic". No, it won't light if you hold up a lighter to it. You must either place it on special made charcoal that is made for incense (the cooking kind of charcoal is not suitable!!), or use an electric incense burner and heat it that way to release the smell. It will bubble and burn. It's still not plastic. It is hardened resin of a tree.Update: I burned some of this resin. It's absolutely delicious. It smells like frankincense wishes it smelled like. Based off other descriptions of mastic that I have read, I'm pretty sure this is genuine mastic. It is bright, with an unusual note that frankincense doesn't have. Some people describe it as "turpentine", it smells better than that. It burns fast with lots of smoke, just like other mastics described to me. When I burned some frankincense to compare, the frankincense smelled very smoky and a little burnt, which I never previously noticed. Mastic may have ruined me!I can see why it's a favorite
