Meh
Most of these stories had nothing to do with Lovecraft's writings. However, a couple of them were entertaining. I read it once but probably won't return to it for a second reading.

Fascinating mix.
There's a lot of great, or at the very least interesting stories in this collection. Coupled with the introductions of each story and their author, there's a great deal of context to why everything is chosen for this collection. And it gets even more interesting with the authors from demographics that Lovecraft regularly looked down on.

A mixed bag, but the final essay is a must read
Every fan of the lovecraft mythos should be required to read Veronica Schanoes’ meditation on old Howie at the end of this anthology. It made muddling through the rest of the middling efforts here well worth it.

Pretty god ... I mean good ... stories.
Some of the standardized review questions (such as "How is the authors' writing?") are not applicable to this book as it's an anthology ... i.e. several stories by a variety of authors. Some of them are top-notch and others are only good. So there you are.The whole Cthulu thing is based on scant material from Lovecraft. These stories take that ball and run with it ... some in a totally different direction from what Lovecraft wrote or hinted at, others more along the same lines as H.P.L. They're all good, though.Lovecraft, and specifically the Cthulu myth, is not either really sci-fi or fantasy or horror, but a kind of stew of all of them, plus a certain something extra unique to Lovecraft - a sense of tension and foreboding. Only a couple of these stories capture that Lovecraft essence. But they're all pretty god. I mean good.

A must-have modern Lovecraftian collection with some of the best names in the field. Buy it.
Getting through this, been on my TBR pile! Will add more reviews. Great book . Must Buy. This is a great starter collection for modern weird Lovecraftian fiction and would make a great gift! Just banged out John Langan's "Outside the House, Watching for the Crows." Langan's story is a must read! It mixes a legendary rock music club, 80's nostalgia, and a truly weird but non-gory twist. I loved the listing of the bands, it brought to mind HPL's ATMOM and the lists of the team's equipment. Also, the tiny details that set up the 80's punk/new wave/high school atmosphere are tremendous, they really set the mood. It brought to mind to me in a great way of some of the work of Ramsey Campbell, and evoked to me some of the cool ideas of T.E.D. Klein's "Nadelman's God."

Rubbish
If you love stories of the Cthulhu mythos don't read this book. The stories are utter dross and have little or nothing Lovecraftian about them.

Not Lovecraft / mythos-related.
Rubbish stories. Not related to anything Cthulhu-mythos related. Lovecrafitian boredome.
