They perform great; as I write this I have them by my easy chair that looks out onto our backyard, for bird-watching. Like almost all other binoculars, you focus one eye with the main focus (in this case, the left), then bring the other eye into fine focus by twisting that eye piece, then adjust the vision by swinging the two eye tubes either out or in until you get one circular view. I can easily view my entire backyard up close with these binoculars, and they will be great for hiking and events.It wasn't given a lot of press in the version of the item description that I ordered from, so even though (in hindsight, I went back and looked) these items were described as part of the item, they weren't given a lot of emphasis, so I was surprised to find a paracord wrist band that includes a compass, a fire-starter set, and a whistle. Also a paracord key chain with a carabiner and a larger compass than the tiny one on the wrist band. Nice surprises!

okay to use it for hikes

The Compact binoculars arrived today and they are just perfect. I have been wanting a compact set of binoculars and this is so much better than I even expected. We have a large set of binoculars but I find them bulky and not very user friendly. These on the other hand are great. They have a nice little carrying case that you can thread on your belt or they are small enough to fit in my purse. It also comes with a bracelet with a compass as well as a key chain that has a compass on it. We give this a big thumbs up! 👍🏻🥰Thanks for reading my review, I hope it helps!P.S. Worked great when wearing contacts but not so great with glasses.

These are great binoculars to take hiking or to keep handy in the back yard. It easily let's you see birds at the bird feeder or high in trees. There's no distortion around the edges and don't fog easily even in the humid environment I live in. The best part is they are much lighter than regular binoculars. I have a nicer, larger pair, but since they are hard to carry with me - I never have them handy when I need them. That won't be a problem with these. At less then 6oz inside the case, they will be easy to carry around my neck or at least have in my backpack without sacrificing much space. Definitely a nice pair for under $20.

Great for watching our backyard birds. Can see clearly from 100' away. The adjustment knob works well so you can change each eye separately. Small size is perfect for nature walks. The accessories are nice. The case is 4" x 2.5" x 1.5", can fit in a pocket has a belt loop. Neck cord on the unit, plus some paracord items with compasses and a cutting tool on the wrist piece. Pretty good value.

This is a nice little pair of binoculars for what they are intended for. The lenses have a clear image. They have both a main focus adjuster and a right eye adjuster, which is nice for people who don't have the same vision in each eye. They can be adjusted for width to fit your eye spacing. The little cord is nothing to write home about but it gets the job done for carrying them. The case is adequate. They came with a little survival bracelet and compass key chain, which have little value to me.

These compact binoculars are a great value for a quality kit. They are small and lightweight and can be stored easily. They also come with a small carry bag and a strap.They won't zoom out terribly far, but can be adjusted and will serve most short to medium-ranged applications. For the price and the compact size it is hard to beat.
