ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING & SCORCHING HOT!!!
When I first heard about this book, I was beyond excited!!!Then I read a teaser to the first chapter and I swear I was counting down the days till August 5th!!Jodi Ellen Malpas has done it again!!She has created a story that has completely captivated me and she's created a book boyfriend that has gone straight to my top ten list!!I specifically took a vacation day so that I could just sit on my couch and read this from start to finish with minimal interruptions!I FREAKING LOVED THIS STORY!!!!!!I'm sitting here still just completely consumed by my thoughts over what I just finished reading last night. All I want to do is go back and start from the beginning and read it all over again! From the moment M. walks into the cafe Livy works at, and orders his Americano, I was intrigued. He is completely delicious and Livy is a nervous wreck under his piercing gaze. Then he goes and leaves her a little note on a napkin and I'm already developing a crush of my own on him!!Fate lends a hand by having the two end up at a Fund Raising Gala. M is there as a guest and Livy is working as a server for her manager's catering company. The minute the two see each other, the attraction is sizzling.Livy has a little mishap and there ends up being this pretty hot scene between the two in the ladies room.M is captivated with Livy. He can't seem to stay away.Livy has led a very dull and uneventful life for the past seven years. She lives with her NAN and the only time she ever really leaves the house is to go to work or hang out with her friend, Gregory.Something about her mother's sordid past, has her refraining from having relationships with men and she also avoids drinking any alcohol.I thought I had figured out what her issue was but later on, come to find out I was COMPLETELY WRONG!Now M comes into her life and she's willing to come out of her shell and be a bit adventurous. He's propositioned her.At first he offers her one night of unbelievable sexual pleasure but soon it turns into 24 hours! But this is all he can offer because as he states he is "emotionally unavailable".She's hesitant at first because she knows that he has already affected her and if she were to go through with this, she'll likely end up with a crushed heart!Livy tries to walk away but her attraction to M is growing and when they end up running into each other a few times, she can no longer deny that this is going to happen between them. The sex was UNBELIEVABLY HOT!M promised an AMAZING experience and he DELIVERED!!Or shall I say Jodi did!I already knew that the Sex was going to be OUT OF THIS WORLD HOT because the lady knows how to write good sex!!M never rushes anything with Livy.Every moment must be "savoured"!!I loved his "Thing" that he needed from her!M is the PERFECT man!!He's a gifted lover, AND he loves to cuddle!!He also seems to have OCD and a thing against riding in elevators. His little quirks are what make him more human and even more lovable. But there is definitely something that he is hiding and it has to do with whatever business he is in.There is plenty of angst due to the push and pull nature of M.One minute he's cold and closed off and the next he shows Livy his tender and affectionate side. She was constantly in turmoil. Not knowing if she was just one of his conquests or if he was truly starting to develop the same feelings for her that she had for him.But he will come to realize that 24 hours will never be enough for them and that he has fallen so hard for her that he feels he needs her to be able to breathe.I was fully captivated by this crazy and powerful connection that was growing between M and Livy. But I was also very tense because I knew their love was going to be tested and that it would probably tie me up in knots!!Something has to come into play that will tear these two apart, because this is a trilogy and Jodi knows how to bring on the gut wrenching angst.I'm totally devastated by the ending!!Some of us predicted what M's secret was.I stayed in denial. I refused to even consider what everyone was predicting. Now I feel like curling up into a ball and crying my eyes out because "One Night Denied" wont be out till November 11th!!And that title??!!!Oh we are in for some more gut wrenching Angst!!!I need this book BAD!!!!!I can't say enough about just how much I loved this one and I highly recommend it!!

...she becomes his oasis - -
A review is relative; that is, what was "fabulous" for one reviewer might me "so-so" for another. And what someone might deem "steamy sexy" might come across as desperation to someone else. And even though Olivia Taylor is blind to facts screaming in her face...deaf to reasoning and willing herself to dumbness, I loved this story. The Author told it so well. She has thick wavy blonde hair that falls voluptuously down her back...sometimes overpowering her tiny frame. She has large, expressive, midnight sapphire blue eyes that she's inherited from her mama and grandma. Her fair milky skin seldom sees the enhancement of makeup...she doesn't need it with her natural beauty. Olivia Taylor (24) is a stable, sensible and stunning young woman. She doesn't date by choice and rejects many offers almost daily. But then she meets the mysterious "M"."M" is aggressive, arrogant, hypnotically compelling and commanding. He's controlling and utterly stunningly striking with his black hair and piercing crystal blue eyes. He's powerfully intense and mysteriously enticing. He never smiles or laughs....he has little to smile about (much less laugh). There is no happiness in his life. He's brusque and "starchy"....unfeeling and (seemingly) unemotional. He comes across as an uptight jerk and a cold prick. He doesn't "do" relationships. He's damaged, therefore he has built thick walls of protection around himself and lets no one in. "M" hates what he is...what he's become. And then he see's Olivia, and life as he knows it will never be the same.Even though "M's" character is intense and his character is definitely not a likable person, I must admit he made me pause and try to figure him out - - where he's coming from..(which I'm proud to say I successfully did and if you think long and hard on those clues, you will too). I was holding my breath waiting for that inevitable axe to fall, because lemme tell ya...it's a'comin'! And when it does, it knocks the wind outta ya and you're left there thinkin "uhhh-huuuh...told'ja"! This Author developed his character flawlessly. He's a domineering, controlling arse who comes to life in the final chapter and by then it's too late. He's not a person one would purposely want to be around.Olivia Taylor was a frustrating character with little appeal (for me). I liked her but then I didn't. (I know...weird, huh?) I do not gravitate to stories where women grovel and chase men or stories with a weak and spineless female character. Olivia was both when it came to "M". She's attracted to "M" and when she's around him, she goes from a refreshing and strong sensible young woman who is usually intelligent and guarded around men, to being under some kind of crazy "deaf mute girl" spell...unable to speak or form words. And I get it...he's so handsome that you're left speechless. But...COME ON GIRL...WAKE UP! She's intrigued by "M", causing her to let her guard down and wander into unknown and dangerous territory. And after years of avoiding men - - all of them - - she finds herself encouraging a dangerous man who should be left alone. This story is a far cry from the intriguing and gut wrenching This Man (This Man, #1) Beneath This Man (This Man Trilogy) ...it's the typical "cat and mouse" chase, conquer and own. It's about all the "up's and down's" of fighting the attraction that you just know is gonna bring you down and slay you in the end...and losing the battle. The highs and lows of two extremely wounded and emotionally damaged people trying to come together in a relationship full of false assumptions and secrets. It's a serious story of trusting (and not trusting) each other with truths. There is little humor. The only thing that would've made it better was hearing "M's" POV.Olivia Taylor has fallen in love with "M" against her better judgement. She's fallen in love with the ultimate, unreasonable, domineering, challenging, control freak Alpha Male. And now I anxiously await the second installment of this story and hopefully Olivia will find her backbone...Well told!

A little disappointed
I usually read a book within 2 days but I'm struggling with this one.I was really looking forward to reading it as I loved 'This Man' series which I could not put down, but I'm 3 weeks in and still haven't completed this book. I'm reading a few pages every couple of days.I feel like the story is going nowhere and I'm finding the female lead character a bit irritating. I like a strong female lead alongside a strong male lead but I find Olivia's character weak and Miller's character isn't developing enough for me.I also feel like there was poor editing, when I started reading chapter 11 it felt like a chapter had been missed. I dont want to give away any spoilers but I'm sure many people would agree that chapter 10 into chapter 11 do not flow well and I was left thinking I'd missed something out. I even went back on myself thinking I'd missed a few pages but I hadn't. It's a shame as there are definitely parts in the book which are unnecessary and just feel like pages needed to be turned out.

4.5, an enjoyable read!
The This Man series by Jodi are amongst my favourite books of this genre that I've ever read so naturally I was going to give the One Night Series a go and I am happy that I did, although not up there with This Man I still fully enjoyed book one.I wish Amazon would rate in half stars because I would give this book a 4.5 out of 5 but I didn't want to round it down to a 4 hence the 5 star rating.Okay so the book itself... Miller Hart, I felt completely captivated by him from the get go, I quite like a moody and mysterious man so unlike some reviewers who said that they couldn't connect with him I enjoyed his games and how he would never fully give Livvie a complete insight into what he was feeling. The story flowed quite easily until it reached 70% and then I began to get bored, hence the 4.5. I feel like 10% of the book between 70% and 80% was just unnecessary and then at 80% the story became exciting again. The ending is great however and I will definitely be buying the next book.

Alright
I gave this book 3 stars because it was better then 2 stars.I felt this book was too similar to 'This Man' trilogy and in some scenes 'Beard to you' when Livy was running out of the hotel because she didn't want to think about all the other girls he there with, the receptionist handing him a key without any money. Has a gay best friend and secrets. (Sound familiar?)Livy is 24 years old, but she came across younger then she really is. I wanted Livy to be stronger then what she was, but because she lived with her nan, it just made her very young and not independent, when 'M' takes her to his home the first time, he tells her to "get in" she looks to her friend for help. A man you don't know asks you to "get in his car" you say NO.It took awhile to get into this book, I feel that it could have be written in half the pages. I felt the "Love" between Livy and 'M' was too fast. After meeting him 3 times and spoken to him only a handful of times, Livy was in love. Was a little depressed and "couldn't stop thinking about him" I was a little to far-fetched.I felt no connection to Livy and 'M' because I felt it was too fast and I felt no connection to the characters at all.To me it's easy to figure out, or close enough, who this story will go and I'm not sure if I can be bothered enough to buy the next book. I just felt lost in this book, and like another reviewer, I rolled my as well when the plot seemed to pull towards the 'This Man' series.People who loved 'This Man' series will love J.E.M New series, it was not for me.

Incredible read
Oh wow. There are no words for Miller Hart. Just wow…I had heard a lot about the Special One and wanted to find out what all the fuss was about. I don’t know where to begin… I was besotted with Miller from the very start. He is the perfect mix of sexy, arrogant, frustrating, charming and possessive. He is so mysterious and you are constantly hoping to find out more about him and why he is the way he is. He is captivating, it’s not hard to see why he’s never shy of female attention.Livy is a sweet girl who is haunted by her past. She knows she shouldn’t get involved with Miller but is helpless to stop it. The relationship between the two of them is addictive. They can’t stay away from each other. I love their connection and how they bring out both the best and the worst in each other.I started book two as soon as I finished this. You won’t want to wait for more Miller! This has definitely become one of my favourite ever reads.

Captivating and dark. This not a sweet romantic read.
I don't know how I feel. Stunned and full of questions. Very thankful that I delayed reading until the whole series was released as I couldn't bear to wait months to read on. I think I was secretly hoping for Jessie to be reincarnated and M is so different. The book certainly had me gripped and I struggled to put it down (read in a day). The story:Olivia is a lovely, sweet girl, working in a coffee shop and living with and looking after her nan. She is beautiful and shy and never really had a boyfriend due to her dedication to her nan. In walks 'M' to her coffee shop and her world is turned upside down. He wants one night with her. Olivia is tempted.Jodi Ellen Malpas is certainly an author who gradually strips back layers of characters. I found myself 'oohing and aahing' along the way. There were times when I couldn't bear how M treated Olivia and I wanted to shake her for allowing it. Then there were times when I wanted to hug M as he began to crumble his walls. M is definitely a complicated character but, love him or hate him., he is fascinating. Olivia is the girl you would be friends with. Likable, lovely and loyal although at times I couldn't make up my mind whether she needed protecting or a wake up call.Similar to 'This Man' series, the alpha male gradually reveals more and more of his story with some shocks along the way. Some of the twists I saw coming and some were total surprises. There is so much detail and planning used by the author throughout when creating these characters that I must applaud her. This is not a sweet romantic read but it is captivating and addictive. I'm moving on straight to the next in the series.
