Very effective once you get used to it ! You'll 'get it' within 30 mins of practice.
I go these so I could continue to exercise during the winter when it was simply too dark / icy / cold to cycle outside. They do take a bit of getting used to and the thought of clipping in and 'free' cycling at first seems like madness. But persevere - you WILL 'get it' and be able to cycle normally. You'll also sweat a lot - which means you are at least burning calories. Check the bolts when you install the rollers. They should very easily engage and grip the threads; if they don't - send it back. Variable roller threads seems to be an issue that some of us have had. I had it on a set (bought from another site) and subsequently found that others had the same issue. Hopefully it's a limited issue and resolved now. Some tips for beginners.- Use it in a door frame (until you're really confident) - that way - when you come off or wobble (and you will) you have something to grab hold of- Focus on a spot on the floor about 1 metre ahead of your front wheel. Don't look at your wheel- Start in a mid-gear. Don't use the higher gears- Don't actively steer - just hold the handle bars and let the front wheel naturally align- If you start to wobble - pedal harder ! Power = stability- Use an Amazon Echo or Dot to set timers. It's much easier to set timers and find out how much you have left with a voice-activated device.

Brilliant piece of kit, hard to get right, but when you do its well worth the Effort.
I am pretty new to cycling, and was thinking about a Turbo trainer. Someone told me about rollers and how they train your core muscles and help ,improve your technique. Have to say after a very wobbly start I am loving these rollers and working out nearly every day.The improvement on technique is very noticeable and i am finding my road speed and effort needed is really improving.I have set them up with Zwift using Ant+ but to tell the truth its a faff for any machine, i find the level of concentration needed to to stay vertical and my favorite tunes in my ears and i am pretty absorbed for and hour easily. If you want to improve your cycling technique, train your core get fit, and have a trainer you just put your bike on and go then rollers are well worth the effort.

Just buy it.
Thought I would give this badboy a whirl as it's not even Christmas and I am already overweight... new years resolution and all that and i like to impluse buy, a present to my overweight self!Anyway, that's besides the point, turned up today and packaged very well, instructions slighly misleading. Rubber band connects center to front roller, install the band between the back two rollers when assembling! If you played with Lego as a child and not a half wit you'll be just fine, one would have to question their motor skills if unable to build but will attempt to ride! Put together in 5 minutes tops.Set it up by placing the bike on the rollers and adjusting till front roller at lowest point of front wheel.Used kitchen work top as a steady and gracefully mounted.... a few minutes getting a feel for it and then took my hand off the work top and I was away! There is a good amount of resistance and within 10 minutes i was absolutely knackered.Possibly invest in a fan as you do get hot very quickly with no "wind" as such.Great product and I highly recommend to anyone looking to get in to shape!

Quality control issues
Like another reviewer mine arrived with a defective roller thread. Clearly some quality issues here. Returned for a replacement

It may just me be but after a week its very difficult to stay on with with a road bike
Product arrived promptly, easy enough to set up. I played around with the space adjustment for the front wheel and found it most stable at 1cm behind the vertical axis from the front roller up to the axel of that front wheel (the single roller is where you front tyre goes). One word of caution..It is still seriously wobbley after over a week on my Giant Defy (but fine on a mountan bike). Many years ago I won some Eurpoean medals for BMX (before X Games :) so my balance is probably still better than average. The road bike's skinny front tyre is all over the place with the slightest tremor and a LOT of mental concentration is required making it impossible to even slighty relax. Others however say they got used to this model on road bikes..and obviously many use other rollers with no problem.Maybe its my bike's geometry but be advised if planning to use a road bike (and your say 40) for some time you will need squirrel like balance to take your hand off whatever was keeping you vertical a few seconds beforehand.

Good alternative
I got one of these to let me train during bad weather and darkness.I considered a turbo trainer but was warned off because I was told that these could give you a sore back. I was told that the rollers were difficult to master but worth the effort because the requirement to balance aspect had the added benefit of working the core muscles.I started off by positioning the rollers in a doorway and actually got used to them pretty quickly. I have had one fall, but that was due to a lack of concentration as I have not reached the instinctive stage as yet!The rollers are pretty easy to set up and adjust to your bike's wheelbase, despite the rather sketchy instructions, an online video by the manufacturer would be helpful and is really something for them to consider.
