Quantek Retro Reflective Photoelectric Infrared Photocell Sensor Safety Beam Switch - IR8000

This item arrived very promptly, well packed and the requested VAT invoice arrived the same day, so the service earns 5-stars. I bought it to protect a large automatic 2 metre wide warehouse sliding door from closing if anything - person, pallet truck or fork lift - was obstructing the threshold. Although the door is fitted with a 'safety edge' to reverse its travel if it strikes anything, we have still had several near-misses (or is that near-hits?) when the door has started to close with an approaching fork lift with restricted vision from a large load giving it a clout. It seems asking for trouble for the closing door to have to actually hit something with its leading edge before it can reverse out of the way.It was very simple to fit this Infrared beam, with the sensor mounted one side of the door and the reflector on the other. The door now stays open while anything or anyone is obstructing the threshold beam and the 30 second timer to close the door only kicks-in when the beam is unbroken; each time someone passes through the open door the timer is re-set for another 30 seconds.It will work on an amazing range of voltages - from 24 DC to 240 AC - and provides a no-volts 5 amp change-over contact to allow for normally open or normally closed operation. I have connected it to a 48 VAC supply that happened to be conveniently nearby. I fitted it almost 2 months ago and it works so well that I have now purchased 3 more.

Bought this to replace the existing sensor on my garage door that had stopped working due to corrosion. The new sensor was a bit tricky to wire up due to the wiring colours being different to the original sensor but once I had worked this out the sensor worked fine. This now stops the door from closing if there's an obstruction in the way and if an obstruction moves under the door during closing then the door automatically reverses and opens again.

The spec sheet delivered with the sensor stated switching relay output rated at 3amp 125vac but description when ordered on Amazon stated relay contacts rated at 1amp 250vac. This is not good as needed to make 250vac light work.
