Tom Chambers Hedgehog House WL014

Beautiful hedgehog house. A little rough around the entrance hole which is disappointing but other than that I can't fault it. Now I just need to wait for some hedgehog friends to move in.

I am using this house as a feeding station for my visiting hedgehogs in bad weather but I have put a pvc strip door on it to keep the birds out as the blackbirds love finishing off their food every morning. As it hasn't got a floor, I can just move it around if it gets mucky. Hedgehogs really do not mind pooping in their food dish, even before eating it all!!! I have however placed it on a thick rubber door mat as otherwise the wooden edges are sitting in the wet and will soon rot. Zinc plating around the edges might have been useful.

I have a hedgehog that visits my garden every day, he is completely blind, so doesn't know if it's night or day, so I usually see him out during the day, so i get the opportunity to feed him. I bought this house, hoping he'd like it to shelter in, and maybe with a bit of luck, hibernate in. I put it in a sheltered spot under a large bush away from prevailing wind and rain, put some straw in, and waited....incredibly, he came through a hole in the bottom of my garden, and went straight into this house! I put a little dish of food near the house for him, which he ate, then went straight back into the house!! Wonderful. I also have a dish of fresh water elswhere in the garden which he drinks from everyday. I've included a couple of photos which I'm glad i got, because I wouldn't have believed it if someone had told me the tale

Was disappointed in workmanship on this when it arrived. One of screws on roof had split the wood when it had been put in. It was a very obvious error but fortunately hubby managed to take out & reverse the top round & replace in new position. Hedgehog uses it but have to be careful where I put food as cat can still reach in & pull out, needs extension on opening to prevent this.

This is a decent item - sturdy and good quality.However, it was not packed well enough, and arrived with one of the slate roof corners broken off...

It is very solid and likely to last well however there is nowhere to put food for a hedgehog where it can't be stolen by birds/rats etc. I cannot see if a hedgehog is resident and to add clean hay if needed without picking the whole thing up. I guess it is my fault for not checking thoroughly but having other hog houses with those features I assumed there would be a hinge in the roof that could be raised to add food etc.

The roof is fixed so can't see if there is a hedgehog in side without lifting the whole house.Also expected a petition inside. Well built, but rather expensive for what it is.

My 1st house arrived disappointingly with the slate roof tile cracked...however I contacted the seller who immediately dispatched a replacement.Within a couple of days I was the proud owner of a beautiful hand made hedgehog house. The hedgehog will be kept dry and sheltered in this little house!very pleased and hope my hedgehog residents are too!!
