Perception Kayak Tribe Sit On Top for Recreation

The kayak arrived looking like it had been dragged here. Both the plastic & cardboard were torn up & cardboard protectors on both ends were torn off. It had many scrapes on sides & bottom & glue-like material in many places. One piece of hardware was missing & appears it was never there - holds the seatback in place (pad eye?)

I took this kayak out last weekend for the first time. Very stable with two young children aboard. Highly recommended.

Our family has several sit-on-top and sit-inside kayaks. When it came to buying my daughter's first kayak, I selected the Perception Tribe 9.5 after assessing products from several other makers. This kayak is stable, well-made (in Greenville, South Carolina), portable, light-weight and FUN! It has molded-in side handles that make it easy to carry, and easy to lock onto a roof rack or pickup truck bed. This one fits in my short-bed Nissan Frontier pickup truck, and will also fit on top of my daughter's small SUV roof rack. Since it is a sit-on-top, I won't have to worry about her having to pump out the boat if she tips over on our north Georgia lakes. Just climb back on top. She can easily run a 14-1/2 foot sit-inside kayak for long distance touring, and has done so, but most of the time we just want to have fun on the water, and this one fits that requirement just fine. Always wear your life jacket! Amazon sells a great life jacket for women: the Astral Layla. The side zip feature makes it more comfortable for women.
