Is something remastered if you change gameplay??
As other reviews have stated, this was an excellent game for the PSP. I always cherished this game for long plane rides. That being said, I was thrilled to see Lumines launched for the Switch. Initially I thought it was a new edition for Lumines; Lumines 2 and Lumines for PS3 were amazing titles.HOWEVER, as someone who spent many hours enjoying this game, I was distraught to see this one changed the cross hair block functionality. The previous Lumines titles all required the cross hair block to be incorporated into a “square” to be activated and chained with like colors. This game has changed the cross hair function so that just placing it on the board will activate the chain effect, significantly changing the strategy. Fine, I can adjust and learn how to play with the change but, I’m not going to deny that I felt extremely disappointed and betrayed. It is technically NOT a remastered version if you change functionality of the beloved, life-saving, clutch cross hair block too.Call me petty, but as someone who adored and cherished the original Lumines series, I do not appreciate rule changes to a game if you are going to call it the “remastered” version. While everything else, like the menu, has been “beautified,” it is not enough to help me overlook changing the game. Sure I can adjust to the new rules but that is not why I bought the game.I’ll get over it.... maybe.

Had it on PSP, bought it again
I loved this game so much on my PSP. The first song Shinning is freaking BOMB, I'd pay for that song... I should look for it huh?Anyway, great game! So much so I have purchased it again although I still have my PSP and OG copy of the game.

Great on-the-go game
Like Tetris, very fun puzzle game to have on a portable gaming systemSimilar to Tetris, you align dropping blocks and make them disappear to get a high score. You keep playing until you can't make any more moves: last block/piece placed overfills the topUnlike Tetris you match colors to make squares.Matching blocks of 4+disappear when the timeline/highlighter sweep over the area.Games focus more on music than chip tunesYup, very basic game mechanics. Very easy to pick-up-and-play, difficult to reach higher levels or get high scores.3D rumble. Rumbles to the rhythm of songs, and when placing pieces down/rotation pieces/lines disappearing. Best to go into settings adjust the rumble settings to have it one or the other so it doesn't cause a distraction and drains the Switches battery faster----Different modes in the game:1. Challenge mode:Reach level 100 or play unlimited and get/beat high scores. This mode is where you get most of the unlocks: skins, avatars and music.2. Skin EditBasically choose the skin of background you want to play in3. Time attackComplete/clear as many squares in a set amount of time. 2 mins, 5mins, etcGreat when playing in public transit or have several minutes to kill4. PuzzleCreate specific shapes the game throws at you like a hollow square, plus symbol, shape of an animals etc. using pieces that drop down5. MissionGive you certain objectives with set number of moves.Basically a training mode for the game6,7. Vs CPU, 2P battleInstead of increasing speed and stacking of random blocks under your progress like in Tetris; the area where you have to work with shrinks while opponents expands when you're losing and vice versa. You share the same board and timeline/highlighter sweep clear. first person to overfill their board loses. Those are basically all the modes. Again gameplay is simple, but fun. replay value to high for those who are into high scores and getting unlocks. Very good game to have when bored when out and about

Puzzle perfection with a sound track.
This is a SOLID game that will happily take literally days if not weeks of your life, but it's worth it. I love this game mostly because once you get the simple mechanics down you can just turn your mind off or go into flow state and feel like a champion. If only the game itself would let you play with your friends online. That's unfortunately just a thing that Nintendo hasn't caught up to yet.All that's left now is to wait for a proper Switch iteration. That or porting Lumines: Electronic Symphony to the Switch so I can have a bit more variety. The songs are nice and plentiful, but I'm a not new to the series. Nostalgia has inevitably waned over time. I need some DLC or something!! AND NO, MOBILE GAMES AREN'T THE WAY.

The PSP Classic remastered and perfected.
The original Lumines on the PSP was one of my favorite games in 2005. It was one of those easy to learn, hard to master, addictive games that kept me coming back to the PSP for years. Now the game has been remastered for modern consoles and the Switch version is amazing. The use of HD rumble to enhance the music's impact is a little overwhelming at first, but once you get into it, it's an immersive experience. It makes me want a version of REZ for the Switch, or if there is already one I'm going to buy it. If you've never played a Lumines game but have a soft spot for unique puzzle games and some good tunes, this is definitely one you want to try.

Great game...especially for the price!
If you like Tetris you'll love this game. The music and background graphics are a little too much for me (I'm getting old) but the concept and game itself I could play for hours.
