I have several Amazon Echo and Google Voice-capable switches and they're generally very similar and not very pretty. The thing I love about these particular units is that they are very compact, look great and simply ooze quality - you could almost mistake them for a product from Apple. They were easy to set up on my Android phone using the ubiquitous Smart Life App. A a little tip for those configuring Smart Life devices, always select the 'AP' mode in the App. This allows you to connect your phone directly to the device's WiFi connection and makes set-up a piece of cake. These work well with both Amazon and Google devices (even when using both on the same network). Recommended

Turning “dumb” devices smart for £10 each. Not bad!! Problem is the constant buzzing and hissing these plugs make, even when they’re not active (standby mode). In one week it has gone from slightly annoying to unbearable. If this wasn’t present, I’d probably buy 10 more for each socket. The size and functionality is just perfect. The app is simple and easy to use. It’s a Tuya product for those interested in a workaround for HomeKit. Can use the tuya app or smart life, both exactly the same. Going to be returning them though. Can’t bear the noise.#Tip. Add smart plug to dumb kettle. Keep kettle filled and tab in the on position. Turn off smart plug. Name the plug “kettle” and add to you’re Echo. Now ask Alexa to “turn on the kettle” and voila!

This is a really neat plug. The instructions however are almost impossible to follow due to the poor illustrations. I read the reviews to be able to pair both plugs - I had to use AP mode which is offered once you fail to pair.You have to add Smart Life to your Alexa App and control via Alexa is then possible.

Turned up in good time. The instructions (and it isn't just me) are very hard to read the pictures might as well not be there. Apart from that forget "Normal mode" as a way of connecting. I found pressing the button until an audible click within the unit can be heard works best - then a Smart -xxx appears on the mobiles available wifi connections. Then go through to AP mode (available from help after "normal mode" fails ) and follow the directions.. one connected the Alexa app can find them (I did one at a time to avoid confusion and renamed accordingly)Very Pleased with them, nice discreet and cost effective plugs that i can say "Alexa turn on coffee machine" or whatever - with no need of a hub.

Was very sceptical as I usually find anything involving wifi to be useless, but these are great! A doddle to set up, even to a tech biff like me, literally took about a minute, and they work flawlessly every time, and have been doing so for a couple of weeks now.

Excellent, use two paired up to operate the dining room lights. one in the garage to operate a water feature in the garage and still have one to play with.

I tried out a set of two and have now bought a second set making four these smart plugs around the house and outside in the garden.Set-up takes patience - read the instructions (or Google for videos/help). The design has changed from the printed version of the leaflet I received - press and hold the button on the panel below the pins for a few seconds until the bluetooth blue/orange sequence flashes, then you can pair.The SmartLift apps asks for your mobile number and some details so think carefully about all of the information being provided and act smartly to mitigate any implications of a data hack their side.Have the app also but use it rarely.I've connected this SmartLife app to Google Home (which prefer over Alexa, having one of these too). So it's Hey Google, turn on the {whatever} an on turn the item. The idea of using this for a kettle or something where this is a possible immediate danger does not appeal at all - should the item mis-function or be turned on accidentally.The reason I liked these was based on a comment from a previous reviewer, the size is so compact and this turned out to be true. However, they do or can cover or will be very close so the on/off switch on some designs of sockets - so the onus is on the buyer to think about this before they buy. So don't review negatively if you haven't undertaken your basic homework first.And I've not experienced any buzzing or sound from the unit.I'll be buying more when they are again on a dealGood stuff.

I was looking for a new timer switch for a light when away from home and came across these.With two plugs they seemed not that much more expensive that the old mechanical timer switch, but seemed to offer more flexibility for timing etc., as well as being able to operate from a phone. I was a bit concerned to read some reviews suggesting problems linking to networks, especially Virgin hubs, but after looking at various switches this seemed to be the neatest, most compact on offer. So I gave it a go.And it is really impressive. Both plugs connected to my Virgin hub in seconds. I do not have an Alexa but the phone app is fine - and its neat that you can share control with other phones easily. The on and off times can be set to local sunset and sunrise, or different times or even ouside air temperature, so could be used to heat the conservatory. So many other possibilities. The switch itself is silent - unlike the very audible click you get from mechanical switches.I really cannot find fault with the product at all.
