Q: Would this be the best saw to cut fine mitre joints for picture frames? My electric saw isn't accurate enough

The first time I used mine I was amazed at how fine the cut was and how smooth the surfaces. It should be fine for small frames (the blade is 150mm long and has a 35mm approx. depth of cut). I recommend practicing on scrap wood to get the feel of the saw, especially if you haven't used a Japanese pull saw before.

Q: Can it do flush cuts to the rib at least?

Flush cut saws have no set on one side or both sides, the Z-Saw has a set all but very fine on both sides.

Q: What is the maximum depth of cut?

The blade of the saw is 150mm long, with a tapered spine running along the length for 135mm. This gives you at least a 30mm depth of cut for 125mm of the saw blade this increases to 40mm towards the end of the blade.

Q: Does this saw require sharpening or can it be sharpened if needed?

This saw is perfect straight out of the packaging. It is not recommended to sharpen these blades, once they go dull replacement blades are avaialable.
