It gave me a display... but no 120hz or 144hz which is why i bought it.
I tried to use this to get 120hz on my monitor. althought I get the option for 120hz, the monitor has a prompt that doesn't go away about an incorrect cable, and the screeen goes all staticy... you can see its still windows, but its very buzy... So it is unusable above 60hz

Either Doesn't Work or Faulty
I've got a GTX 1660 Super GPU which has 3 DP ports and 1 HDMI port. My two monitors I'm using are the Acer GN246HL.I've bought this adapter. I thought it was working at first, but no. The connector reads HDMI, so whenever I try to increase my refresh rate to 120Hz. It says "Wrong cable. Please use the DVI cable that came with the monitor".Note: 144Hz only works if the display is set to 2D for this monitor. If I'm correct, there's no option to change 3D display back to 2D in the current version of Windows 10.No, it's not because of my GPU because my first mistake was I bought a passive adapter, but at least the connector reads DVI. This connector reads HDMI, which causes the "Wrong Cable" message to appear even though I am using a DVI cable. If you have the "Wrong Cable" message, please check if the connector is reading correctly. I found this on my NVIDIA Control Panel under "Change Resolution".

In my experience does not work as described (tried 2 of them) - Returned!
The media could not be loaded. I have a new RTX 2080 without a DVI output (replacing my old 980ti), and a lovely old HAZRO HZ27WC 1440p @ 60Mhz monitor.I want to continue using this monitor as its great, and at the moment i don't need refresh rates above 60Hz.This Product is supposed to support a resolution of 2560x1440 @ 60Hz.... in my direct experience it simply doesn't.I have additionally replaced the VisionTech product with a second one, in case the original was faulty, no luck. I moved power cables and other things that may be causing interference... no luck. I am using the original cable that came with the monitor and has never caused me an issue... VisionTech can't seem to suggest a cable that would work!As much as I don't want to spend more money, I have shelled out for a more expensive 'powered' brand of DP to DL-DVI, one that Nvidia recommends. It's a heavy price to pay for wanting to continue with a DVI based monitor, but its still cheaper than replacing the monitor, which I simply can not stretch to at the moment!(check the video for an example of the issue... it gets much, much worse when there is a lot happening on the screen)

Works as described
I have an old Dell U2711 computer monitor which only supports 2560x1440@60Hz via the DVI-D interface. Unfortunately my Gigabyte RTX 2080 Ti graphics card does not have a DVI-D output. This adapter allowed me to connect my graphics card's DisplayPort to my monitors DVI-D input and set the resolution to 2560x1440.I believe most of the people complaining that it doesn't work are simply doing it wrong---an ordinary DVI cable does not support resolutions 1440p, you must use a DVI-D cable with this adapter in order to achieve the higher resolutions.

Doesn't do 2560x1600
This doesn't work with my 2560x1600 (Dual Link DVI-D), tried it with surface pro (via mini dp to dp), laptop (usb-c to dp) and my desktop (which I've used for years with the monitor quite happily at 2560x1600). Connected to my desktop by the same graphics card (that has DP and Dual DVI-D) the DP port won't run it at 2560x1600 but the DVI port connection does as it always has. Clearly not the cable, nor the capabilities of the computers.

Works well for me
I use this to drive my Dell U2711 monitor at 2560x1440 via its DVI input and via an Aten Dual-link DVI KVM. I am using the Displayport output from my Asus Z270-A Prime motherboard.I have been using it like this for months and I have nothing but praise for it.I only wish I could find a similar device for HDMI. I have wasted lots of cash on things that claim to do it and don't.

It does not appear to in fact support dual link DVI.
I bought this to connect my 30" 2560x1600 Apple Cinema Display to a nVidia 3xxx series card in my PC. Unfortunately, it simply doesn't work at 2560x1600 whereas another adapter I have does work. Unfortunately, I've now missed my return window so please learn from my mistake!

DONT BUY
It wont work - just buy a new monitor or buy an GPU with an HDMI port that supports 144hz
